As we continue to grow, we're seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to help shape the next chapter of our success.

About the Role

This is a senior opportunity for a commercially astute construction professional to join a respected team and play a pivotal role in driving strategic growth. Reporting directly to the Director, you’ll be responsible for identifying and securing new project opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and expanding Valeo’s presence in the Melbourne commercial construction sector. You will use sales leadership to develop compelling, winning strategies and persuasive stories in response to client needs.

Job Description

What You'll Do

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Cultivate relationships with developers, architects, consultants, agents, and key industry players.
  • Identify upcoming commercial project opportunities across sectors such as apartment residential, office, retail, and mixed-use developments.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the construction industry through tender portals, market research, networking, and prospecting.
  • Lead the pursuit of high-value tenders and negotiated works aligned with Valeo’s strategic focus.
  • Shape bid strategies through market intelligence, feasibility analysis, and client insights.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop targeted marketing strategies and campaigns to generate leads and increase brand visibility.
  • Lead the entire sales cycle, from initial contact to contract negotiation and closure, ensuring a seamless transition to the project delivery team.

Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management

  • Represent Valeo at industry events and networking functions with professionalism and purpose.
  • Build trust with new and existing clients through consistent engagement and value-driven communication.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align client needs with Valeo’s service delivery capabilities.
  • Strategic Input & Reporting

  • Maintain a robust and accurate pipeline of future opportunities.
  • Prepare briefing notes, client presentations, and market analysis for senior leadership.
  • Offer strategic insights to support Preconstruction team, estimators, and project leaders.
  • Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proven business development experience within the commercial construction or property sector.
  • Solid understanding of the Melbourne construction market and procurement landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities to inform strategic decisions.
  • Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in construction, business, property, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of client procurement and contracting strategies.
  • Minimum 5+ years of business development or client-side project experience.
