Our WSP Canberra office is looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer to join the leadership team. It's a terrific time to join our Canberra team and excel your career forward.

This role will see you become a leader, thereby enhancing your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s Property and Buildings team. You will collaborate with talented and diverse professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities.

Our Canberra team is working on small, medium and large projects across a range of sectors, including projects in Defence and DFAT. But we have a national team approach to all our projects, which means you will work on projects across Australia, not just projects in the ACT, ensuring you gain a breadth of experience across a diverse range of projects and industries.

What you'll do

• Have the opportunity to work on iconic projects within a multi-disciplined engineering team to deliver a range of civil engineering design projects.
• Support the wider team and other teams within the company nationally when the opportunity presents.
• Carry out assigned project and 12D design work as part of an integral team adhering to technical and commercial standards.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and be committed to team approach and outcomes.
• Provide ongoing continuous improvement and development inputs to create more efficient workflows within the team.
• Lead and deliver current civil engineering projects from inception through to construction in support of technical and commercial standards, and within time constraints and cost budgets;
• Delegate and supervise the work of junior engineers, and;
• Partner with internal stakeholders and a collaborative, national team in a multidisciplinary engineering setting.

About you

• Typically 5-8 years industry experience within Civil Engineering with strong demonstrated design experience.
• Chartered status with Engineers Australia (preferred), or willing to achieve status with WSP’s support
• Solid industry experience on Australian civil engineering projects in a consulting environment
• Sound working knowledge of relevant Standards and Codes (AS/NZS 3500, NCC etc.);
• Practical experience using 12D and Civil 3D
• Well versed in effectively delivering multiple, concurrent projects ranging in scale and sector, e.g. commercial, residential, industrial, land development, subdivisions and infrastructure/roads;
• Strong client relationship management and project management skills;
• Experience with AU Defence projects and ability to obtain Defence clearance (AUS Citizen) would be ideal.
