Senior Adviser - Government Affairs and Policy Reforms Base salary plus 15.4% employer super contribution

The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.

NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

About The Role : We are looking for a driven, results-oriented professional to join our Strategic Communications and Engagement team as a Senior Adviser - Government Affairs and Policy Reforms. This position is based in our Perth Office and available for a period of up to two years.

In this dynamic role, you will support NOPSEMA's involvement to cross-government priorities, reforms and initiatives led by policy agencies.You will help shape powerful narratives, influence key stakeholders, and drive strategic outcomes that matter.

Key Responsibilities : As a Senior Adviser - Government Affairs and Policy Reforms, you will be responsible for :

  • engaging and collaborating with NOPSEMA's government stakeholders in the legislative change process to identify opportunities, facilitate cooperation, and achieve outcomes.
  • drafting ministerial briefings, parliamentary senate inquiry submissions, and responding to Questions on Notice.
  • providing advice and support to NOPSEMA's divisions on matters that have policy, legislative and regulatory implications.
  • supporting complex Strategic Communications and Engagement projects in conjunction with other Assistant Directors as and when required.

As the successful applicant, you will have : Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with proven ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships and communicate with influence.

Demonstrated experience in providing advice on government affairs, policy, regulatory and legislative matters or similar adaptable skills.

Proven ability to influence policy reforms and legislative change through engagement of government and other stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability in leveraging technical expertise to advocate effectively in policy development, design and implementation of legislative or policy reforms or similar transferrable skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within and across teams and manage upwards.

Experience in government relations, public policy, legislative change / processes, or public administration is desirable.
