About the Role
We are seeking several seasonal casuals to work on the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) project in
In this role, you will be working alongside like-minded teachers and professionals in assessing a range of writing responses from Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students.
We offer flexibility to work onsite or from home, while providing support for you to successfully complete the marking of the NAPLAN Writing assessment.
Positions are available for teachers currently residing in metropolitan and regional New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
Pay rate : centre-based markers $
All markers are paid $
Responsibilities
Attend and successfully complete marker training and induction.
Demonstrate competence in the online marking procedures and instructions.
Mark candidate responses at an item level, using the Pearson Online Marking System.
Mark candidate responses of items accurately and timely in accordance with the marking criteria set by ACARA, the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and Pearson.
Accurately mark candidates' work samples using the marking framework presented in training for writing.
Maintain the security and confidentiality of all assessment information and materials.
Receive ongoing support and instruction regarding the marking of NAPLAN writing as part of quality assurance protocols.
Be able to work as part of a supportive team and have the ability to work in accordance with marking rate targets.
Requirements
Availability for the entire period of live marking, including training.
Marking period : approximately four to six weeks.
Training period : in the week of the 9th of March,
Marking will begin immediately after the training period and continue until approximately mid-to-late April.
Centre markers required to work a five-day weekday shift (morning or evening) and one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) during the live marking period.
Home-based markers required to be online during a mandatory marking period and commit to undertake a minimum of four hours of marking daily, for six days a week during the live marking period.
Marking centre and marking activities are not in operation during the Easter public holidays.
Qualifications & Experience
Teaching experience : English teacher in an Australian Primary or Secondary School for at least one year and hold at least a NESA Conditional or Provisional Accreditation.
Completed the NESA Learning Assessing writing using the NAPLAN writing marking guide – narrative or persuasive course.
At least a Bachelor's degree in teaching (also accepting students studying a teaching degree in their final year from a reputable Australian institution).
Computer skills to conduct marking and complete appropriate training.
Understanding of criterion-based marking (writing), grammar and structures.
Participation in this marking is based on availability; relief teaching or school reimbursement will not be provided by Pearson.
