Role Purpose
The Carpenter role is responsible for carrying out a wide range of construction carpentry tasks including the construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of structures and fixtures. The position involves working with timber, plywood, wallboard, and other materials using hand tools and power tools to deliver construction projects in line with specifications, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Study and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical drawings to determine materials, dimensions, and installation methods required for construction work
- Select, measure, and order appropriate timber and construction materials, and prepare detailed layouts for building projects
- Cut, shape, and assemble materials accurately using carpentry hand tools and power tools in accordance with specified designs
- Construct frameworks, wall structures, and roof systems, including installation of sub‑flooring and floorboards, ensuring all structures are level, plumb, and true
- Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, exterior wall cladding, and fit door and window frames
- Assemble pre‑cut wood components to form structural elements and fittings ready for installation
- Accurately cut and assemble wood joints for various structural and non‑structural components
- Build and install concrete formwork required for construction and structural works
- Repair, modify, and maintain existing fittings, fixtures, and structural components as required
- Work with a variety of materials including timber, plastic laminates, perspex, and metals where applicable to carpentry tasks
- Coordinate and work closely with other construction professionals to ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and on schedule
Requirements
Proven experience as a Carpenter with a minimum of 2–3 years of relevant work experience in the construction industryRelevant trade qualification in Carpentry or equivalent industry‑recognised training, including completion of an apprenticeship or formal carpentry trainingStrong technical knowledge and hands‑on experience in carpentry techniques, construction methods, and installation processesProficiency in the use of carpentry hand tools, power tools, and equipment required for construction and installation workAbility to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and construction documentationStrong attention to detail with a high standard of workmanship and accuracy in all tasks performedGood physical condition, stamina, and endurance to meet the physical demands of construction workStrong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environmentWhy Join Us
