What you'll be doing
Reception:
The ward clerk will answer phone calls in a timely manner and answer all enquiries professionally, offering to assist where possible. The incumbent will assist with enquiries from patients, their family and carers efficiently and courteously, referring to the appropriate clinician for patient information. The Ward Clerk will answer the intercom and advise clinical staff of visitors to the ward.
Administrative:
The Ward Clerk will ensure that the bed board is updated as required. The incumbent will manage and perform patient admissions, discharges and transfers via the relevant databases ( eMR), ensuring all patient information is accurate. The incumbent will fulfil all other duties as directed by management. Medical
Records:
The Ward Clerk will be responsible for the ordering of Medical Records through Health Information Services (HIS) as required. The incumbent will maintain storage of patient medical records on the ward, ensuring integrity of the filing system. The Ward Clerk will ensure that Medical Records and Discharge paperwork are ready for return to HIS within 48 hours of discharge.
Operational:
The Ward Clerk will maintain regular checks of all stationary, office supplies and MHOAT forms and reorder to replenish stock through Winc, Source it ordering, Oracle and Design & Print. The incumbent will organise maintenance and repairs of faulty equipment in their workplace. The Ward Clerk will liaise with cleaners and trades persons, attending to the ward keeping records of all invoices and work completed.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
The Ward Clerk will work according to the Departmental safe work methods and guidelines. The incumbent must adhere to all NSW Health and NSLHD Policies and Procedures. The Ward Clerk will perform all other delegated tasks appropriately and in line with grading and capabilities.
