Company Description

The Local Accountant is a small but mighty accounting firm based in Penrith, working closely with small business owners, families, and local legends. We’re real-time, paperless, and people-first. Our mission is to give clients clarity and confidence with straight-up advice and proactive support all year round — not just at tax time.

We’re growing fast and looking for an experienced Accountant who’s keen to take ownership, work with good people, and grow with a firm that’s going places.

Role Description

You’ll be trusted with managing client work end-to-end, building strong relationships, and delivering quality outcomes that make a real difference. Your day-to-day will include:

• Managing a variety of jobs across small business clients
• Preparing tax returns, BAS/IAS, and financials for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
• SMSF compliance (if you enjoy that kind of puzzle)
• Xero bookkeeping, reconciliations, and real-time reporting
• Monthly and quarterly client check-ins with meaningful, proactive advice
• Helping people — not just “doing the numbers”

Qualifications

You’re an experienced public practice accountant who cares about doing great work and being part of something bigger than a job. You bring:

• Solid previous experience in public accounting practice
• Strong Xero skills and a love for clean, tidy files
• Confidence to manage work independently and speak clearly with clients
• SMSF experience (a bonus, not a dealbreaker)
• CA/CPA qualified or actively working towards it
• A genuine drive to help others, grow professionally, and be part of a supportive team
