About the Role

The Ministry Assistant (Children & Youth) plays an important role in helping young people and families connect with faith, community and support through the life of the Alice Springs Corps. Working closely with the Corps Officers, you’ll help develop and grow children’s and youth ministries that are welcoming, engaging and aligned with the mission and values of The Salvation Army.

This role is hands-on, creative and deeply relational. You’ll help shape programs, lead activities, support volunteers, and create opportunities for children and young people to explore faith in ways that are meaningful and age-appropriate. You’ll also contribute to Sunday worship and build strong connections with local schools, churches and community organisations.

How You Will Make an Impact

Create engaging, age-appropriate programs that support children and young people in exploring faith and community

Build positive relationships with children, youth and families, offering pastoral support in safe and appropriate ways

Lead small groups, discipleship activities and faith-based conversations

Contribute to Sunday worship through children’s talks, prayer, worship and Bible messages

Support and equip volunteers involved in children’s and youth ministries

Strengthen connections with local schools, churches, community groups and Salvation Army Youth Services

Participate in leadership activities, pastoral care meetings and divisional children’s events, including camps

What You Will Bring

A mature Christian faith and the ability to disciple individuals on their journey with Jesus, including offering age-appropriate spiritual care to children and youth

Experience leading programs or activities for children or young people

Confidence in communicating the Christian message in ways that connect with young people

Experience in ministry to adults, including prayer, Bible study and delivering Bible messages

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and respectful approach

NT Driver’s Licence
