The Category Buying team works together with the Planning team to drive sales, maximise profit, manage intake, and ensure that the moment‑and‑forward‑thinking ranges engage THE ICONIC customers.
As the Assistant Category Buyer, you will report to the Category Buyer, support the department strategy, vision and budget planning, and assist in the purchasing and procurement of goods required by the company. You will help achieve sales growth within your category in alignment with THE ICONIC’s commercial strategy.
About The Role
- Understand and drive company wide strategies and OKRs.
- Assist in the procurement of your category.
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Identify vendor supply‑chain challenges through regular quality assurance reviews.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure timely deliveries.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies with orders, invoices or deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and industry regulations.
- Manage vendor admin to ensure accuracy.
- Use customer focus to identify opportunities for improvements in the customer onsite experience.
- Analyse data, interpret trends and propose informed decisions based on data.
- Identify cost savings opportunities through analytical skills.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers; work collaboratively to achieve mutual goals and foster partnerships.
- Develop relationships with internal key stakeholders such as Marketing, Vendor Management, Operations and Finance.
- Communicate in a concise, effective manner.
- Adapt to changes in the market and industry; be open to learning new skills and approaches.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by management.
What It Takes
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Assistant Buyer working in high volume / own brand business.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment.Proficient in Jira, Excel, BI, BC and knowledge of API integrations and platform software preferred.Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.Staying up to date on organisational developments and completing required training in a timely manner.Life at THE ICONIC
