Service Technician - Packaging Machinery

An industry leader in end-of-line packaging solutions is seeking a skilled Service Technician to join their growing team. This national role is pivotal in supporting customers across Australia with installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of advanced packaging machinery. The role also involves hands-on training of operators, production, and maintenance staff to ensure optimal equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Carry out planned maintenance and servicing of packaging machinery on customer sites across Australia.
  • Diagnose and repair breakdowns efficiently, both onsite and remotely.
  • Troubleshoot and proactively resolve machine performance issues.
  • Perform machinery servicing and rebuilds in the company's workshop as needed.
  • Install and provide training on a full portfolio of weighing, labelling, and inspection systems (hardware and software).
  • Provide technical phone support when onsite service isn't possible.
  • Attend manufacturer and machine-specific training sessions.
  • Liaise with management on service matters and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow safety procedures and risk management protocols while working onsite or in company facilities.

What We're Looking For :

  • Licensed Electrician ("A" Class) or holder of a Restricted Electrical Licence (Cert III or Diploma in Electrotechnology highly regarded).
  • Strong understanding of basic TCP / IP communication protocols.
  • Experience with MS SQL Databases (advantageous).
  • Previous work with x-ray equipment and radiation safety licensing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with metal detectors and thermal transfer printers.
  • Strong computer literacy and networking skills.
  • Knowledge of barcoding, labelling technologies, weighing, and calibration processes.
  • Proven strength in electronics / electrical fault finding and problem solving.
  • Prior experience servicing packaging or processing equipment in the food industry is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • A collaborative team player who also thrives when working independently.
  • Flexible with work hours, travel-ready, and open to weekend work when required.
  • Valid Australian driver's licence.
