Registrar - Batemans Bay Local Court

  • Location : Batemans Bay
  • Current opportunity : Temporary for 6 Months with a possibility of extension
  • Clerk Grade 7 / 8, Base Salary ($106,025- $117,363) plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

The Illawarra South Region is comprised of 5 hubs with 24 Courts.

The advertised role is for a Registrar of the Local Court. As a Court Registrar you will be responsible for ensuring delivery of high quality and professional administrative support to Judiciary and Courts, in addition to leading teams in the provision of high-quality service to clients and other stakeholders. This Registrar role is expected to work across a variety of jurisdictions within the court registry.

You will be expected to be able to build supportive and co-operative team environments, develop team capabilities and recognise performance issues and address appropriately.

What you’ll do

Leading the team, you will be responsible for :

  • Managing, developing, and motivating staff in a fast paced and challenging court environment
  • Work across a variety of court locations, building rapport with many different staff members
  • Adapt to being in a variety of different places and roles in multiple court locations
  • Implementing procedures and training to ensure staff are adequately equipped to ensure best practices and standards are provided to clients
  • Constantly implementing processes and procedures which are always up to date with legislation
  • Dealing with staff issues and providing feedback or counselling to staff
  • Adapting to work in different court jurisdictions
  • Promoting a positive working environment that values ethical behaviour and good performance whilst meeting statutory and administrative obligations.
  • Undertaking some quasi-judicial or other statutory functions such as LEPRA applications or conducting call-overs.
