Role Overview
The Grants Engagement Manager is responsible for managing the Institute’s grant portfolio across workplace, education, health and government sectors, and philanthropic donors. The role ensures grant‑funded programs are delivered effectively, stakeholders are engaged and operational targets are met. It supports the Senior Engagement Manager in pipeline development and process improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and management of assigned grants from pipeline to delivery.Support the Senior Grants Engagement Manager with onboarding and setup of new grants, ensuring clear objectives, budgets and activity plans.Oversee day‑to‑day delivery of grant‑funded programs, ensuring alignment with target outcomes.Manage all reporting requirements including financial acquittals, activity reports and impact reporting.Monitor and track grant performance, risks and milestones; escalating issues as required.Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders – government agencies, corporate partners, education providers and philanthropic donors.Represent BDI at sector events and promote BDI’s capabilities.Serve as primary contact for assigned grants, providing regular communication and reporting to funders.Work with internal teams to deliver grant‑funded programs sustainably and integrate them into broader engagement plans.Identify, secure and support fee‑for‑service opportunities aligned with the Institute’s strategic priorities.Contribute to business case development, proposals and bids for grant‑funded and fee‑for‑service opportunities.Gather sector intelligence and monitor competitor activity to identify growth and innovation opportunities.Support budget oversight, track grant funding expenditure and ensure transparent allocation.Create and deliver regular grant stakeholder reports, internal leadership updates and sector partner communication.Monitor KPIs and impact metrics, providing insights to improve grant performance.Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.Refine processes, systems and reporting frameworks to scale grant management.Share lessons learned and best practices.Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and BDI WHS policy.Skills & Experience Required
Essential Criteria
Degree in Business, Psychology, Management, Marketing or related discipline.Minimum 3 years similar role with demonstrated success in grant engagement and program delivery.Proven experience managing government, workplace, education, health and philanthropic grants.Ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary projects to deadline and budget.Experience in developing compelling grant proposals and competitive tenders.Strong stakeholder engagement skills and track record with government agencies, corporate partners, education providers and philanthropic donors.Experience acting as a liaison with funders, ensuring compliance and effective communication.Sales and business development experience in a consultative high‑volume environment.Ability to manage full sales lifecycle from lead generation to contract negotiation.Strong organisational and prioritisation skills balancing strategy and delivery.Experience in scalable system and process improvement.Excellent oral and written communication presenting reports.Ability to interpret and report on KPIs and impact metrics.High-level computer literacy (Microsoft Office, CRM systems).Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and WHS responsibilities.Desirable Criteria
Experience in mental health, not‑for‑profit or research translation sectors.Experience in marketing or communications teams co‑developing promotional materials.Experience improving internal systems, workflows or CRM usage.Familiarity with accreditation and standards compliance.Ability to analyse data and translate findings into actionable insights.EEO Statement
