Your contribution to the team includes

The role of Finance Business Partner plays a critical role in driving financial insight, accuracy, and accountability across the Club, with a particular focus on supporting the Football Department and broader operational units. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role is responsible for consolidating financial data from all departments into accurate and timely forecasts, enabling informed strategic decisions at the Executive and Board level.

This role is also responsible for :

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies allowing for Total Player Payment and Football Department Soft Cap rules.
  • Implementing internal controls and financial policies to safeguard the club’s interests.
  • Identifying and mitigating financial risks affecting the club’s operations.
  • Leading the coordination and consolidation of monthly departmental financial data to support accurate and timely forecasting.
  • Preparing and coordinating the Football Soft Cap (AFL and AFLW) via the annual Club Financial Review.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of all AFL soft cap rules / changes and communicate any impacts to relevant football stakeholders (CEO, COO, Head of Finance and Head of Football)
  • Monitoring Football Department expenditure, identifying risks and opportunities by working closely with the EGM Football and GM Women’s Football.
  • Accurate and timely completion of player payrolls including calculation of all match, injury & bonus payments.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the Month End and Year End processes ensuring that all football costs are appropriately captured.
  • Assisting with the Annual External Audit processes with a strong focus on ensuring no audit adjustments.

Skills and experience

  • Relevant finance / business degree
  • CA / CPA qualified
  • 3-6 years accounting experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Reporting Skills
  • Knowledge of D365 and Workday Adaptive
  • Effective time Management
  • Attention to Detail
  • Knowledge of AFL rules re TPP, and Football Soft Cap is beneficial but not essential.
