Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor

The Water Group is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Communications & Engagement Advisor to support the development and delivery of strategic communications and engagement activities for the NSW Government’s Reconnecting River Country Program, as well as other priority Water Group programs and projects.
The role supports the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of communications and engagement strategies and activities, with a strong focus on stakeholder and community engagement.
Working within the Water Group’s Environment, Engagement and Land branch, the role works closely with a range of other teams in the department to help ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to external communications and engagement activities.
This role will go to December 2026 and will be based in our Albury, Wagga Wagga, Deniliquin or an alternative office in the southern NSW / Riverina region. Travel throughout the region will be required, including overnight stays (approximately 2 times per month).
Key accountabilities
DCCEEW conserves and protects the state’s natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations.
DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state, to support the environment, communities and industry.
The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.
