  • Dee Why Public School (enrolment 536, 59% of students from language backgrounds other than English) is a rich, culturally and socio-economically diverse school which acknowledges and celebrates the contributions of all families. The school is committed to high quality teaching and learning with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy. The school embeds Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) into school culture, with a strong focus on student wellbeing. Special needs classes support the inclusion of children with mild disabilities into the mainstream programs. Extra-curricular opportunities in Primary Schools Sporting Association (PSSA) Sport, Science / Technology / Engineering / Mathematics (STEM), Creative and Performing Arts, including Band and String ensembles, enable our students to excel through a range of learning experiences. The school culture is one of belonging with students, staff, parents and the wider community, including an active and committed Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association, working together to promote school excellence.     • Selection Criteria
    • In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach K-6. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively as part of an executive team and effectively balance the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher and Assistant Principal.
    • Evidence of an approachable and highly visible leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and the expertise to lead curriculum change using effective, evidence-informed teaching practices that enable student improvement and achievement.
    • Highly developed educational leadership skills that support quality teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse learning needs of students enhancing their wellbeing, engagement and performance.
    • Proven ability to build and maintain relational trust with students, staff, parents and the wider community to enhance and inspire a positive and cohesive school culture.
    • General Selection Criteria
    • 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

    • 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
