Training Specialist

Job descriptionDeliver engaging presentations and training to staff and partner agencies. Design and develop innovative, relevant, and inclusive learning solutions. Regularly review and refine training curricula to align with organisational objectives. Identify training and capability gaps, and implement strategies to address them. Update and adapt training content to reflect emerging security risks. Apply adult learning principles to ensure content is effective and accessible. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assess and refine training needs. Develop eLearning solutions and support blended training approaches. Perform ad-hoc duties as required. Proven experience in government or organisational training development, delivery, and coordination. Strong knowledge of traditional and innovative training platforms (face-to-face, virtual, eLearning, blended). Familiarity with training development software (advantageous). Understanding of protective security policies and risk management (or ability to acquire quickly). High-level communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop innovative training approaches and re-design training policy. Strong coordination, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Confident and professional in engaging diverse staff groups.

About The Role
The Department is seeking a motivated APS6Training Specialist to join a close-knit team delivering high-quality security training across a global workforce. This role is critical in strengthening security capability, awareness, and culture while ensuring staff are equipped to identify, mitigate, and manage risks effectively.
Level / Classification : APS6
Contract Duration : 12 Months + 1x 12 Months extension
Location : Canberra, ACT
Requirements :
- MUST have an ACTIVE NV2 Clearance
- Ability and willingness to undergo a police check
