About the roles :

Victoria Police is committed to coming with purpose to the truth-telling led by the Yoorrook Justice Commission and to acting with urgency to address the issues identified. The Chief Commissioner has announced his commitment to 79 reforms to be delivered by the end of 2025.

The Yoorrook Justice Commission Response Taskforce leads this work for Victoria Police. We are a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers, policy officers, archivists and records officers and police members.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Policy & Projects Officer to join us. The position reports to a Senior Manager, Policy & Projects.

In this role, you would :

  • manage and contribute to portfolios of responsive and project work
  • develop a range of communications across Victoria Police
  • work with Victoria Police's Aboriginal Community portfolio
  • coordinate, review and draft responses and submissions
  • undertake complex research to ensure our work is evidence-based
  • be expected to deliver high quality, well-considered advice to senior management.

As the successful applicant, you will have :

  • understanding and / or knowledge of working effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal communities in a culturally safe and sensitive manner
  • proven experience managing projects and providing policy and project related advice to senior management
  • analytical skills to understand and address complex issues and their root causes
  • experience in preparing complex written reports and submissions
  • highly developed stakeholder management skills
  • demonstrated ability to monitor client and stakeholder expectations and effectively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for all parties involved.

    • Candidates with experience in cultural change and / or monitoring and evaluation are encouraged to apply.

    Requirements and relevant information :

  • One (1) position, fixed term to 30 June 2025. While this is a full-time position, we are happy to consider part-time or other flexible work arrangements.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
