As a Business Improvement Specialist, you’ll support Powerlink’s Major Projects in establishing and maintaining a high standard of business and strategic maturity.You’ll actively manage activities to improve the core divisional business management standards, projects review activities and lessons learned processes that enable the underlying processes and continuous improvement cycle.

  • Support the Major Projects Office group with establishing and maintaining the Project management framework with a specific focus on the Continuous Improvement knowledge area including procedures and systems.
  • Enable projects to adopt and apply continuous improvement and lessons learned practices to support project and strategic objectives.
  • Lead project reviews, lessons learned and improvement review sessions with key stakeholders across the business, providing support on the implementation and embedment of associated improvement actions where applicable.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships, engaging on a regular basis with peers, customers and stakeholders across Powerlink, to understand, to learn, to influence and to align Major Projects Division improvement projects and activities.
  • Provide specialist process analysis, optimisation, improvement, innovation and change management expertise, including advice to Major Projects Directors, Leaders and others to identify and implement efficient and innovative business improvements.

    Based in our Bowen Hills Office, our Major Projects Office group exists to manage the governance and controls which underpin the lifecycle of our large-scale projects - establishing our strategic aspiration to become a major developer that safely delivers complex and significant CAPEX projects over the next decade.

    This team is established on a culture of innovation and improvement, where each member’s unique expertise is enhanced by a focus on collaboration, ultimately leading to the collective success.

    Your expertise

  • Degree level qualification in business, quality management, engineering, or allied discipline and / or a lesser qualification with substantial experience in a large, complex infrastructure environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in the development, maintenance and implementation of a project review and lessons learned program.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead the preparation of high-quality business improvement and strategic plans. This includes collation of information from multiple stakeholders to ensure that strategies, plans and targets meet the immediate and long-term objectives of major projects and the enterprise.
  • Experienced in facilitating and documenting strategy, business and process reviews, and implementing improvement through project management and delivery.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders to drive business outcomes including through facilitation of workshops.
  • Proven skills in project management, business analysis, process analysis, optimisation, improvement and change management.
  • We’d also love you to have :

  • Previous experience working within and contributing to the standards of an organisation certified to Quality Management System certified to ISO9001
  • Demonstrated understanding of the PMI standards (PMBOK, Risk Management and Program Management Standards) would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated understanding of innovation and human centred design approaches would be an advantage.
