We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our dynamic team at Gol Gappa Lawnton Food Store. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Indian street food culture, a commitment to excellent customer service.
Location : 555 Gympie Road, Lawnton, QLD 4501
Responsibilities Include but not limited to the following :
- Oversee kitchen operations to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate the purchase of supplies in alignment with the restaurant’s budget.
- Assess the quality of raw ingredients and finished dishes to ensure high standards.
- Participate in hiring and training new staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety.
- Plan and review the restaurant’s menu regularly in consultation with the other chefs and cooks, ensuring it remains competitive and appealing.
- Estimating food and labor costs, ordering spices and ingredients specific to Indian cuisine, and managing inventory to minimize waste.
- Demonstrate cooking techniques such as tandoor operation, curry preparation, and traditional methods of marination and tempering and equipment to staff.
- Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of chefs, cooks and kitchen staff engaged in food preparation and provide guidance through the stages of cooking as required.
- Innovating modern Indian fusion dishes or seasonal menus while preserving traditional flavors to enhance customer experience.
- Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
- Actively rectify kitchen problems with the staff and the manager.
- Ensure FIFO (First-in First-out) storing method is followed by all staff to prevent foodborne illness and controlling kitchen costs by minimizing wastage;
- Always maintain the restaurants sanitization and hygiene and enforce the hygiene regulations.
Salary Range : AUD $70,000 – AUD $80,000 Per annum plus Superannuation
Skills and Experience :
Minimum Certificate IV level qualifications are required.The candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in busy restaurant.Must be ready to work on weekends and late nightsPositive attitude
