    THE ROLE

    The Software Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and enhancing the digital integration landscape across JD Sports' Australia & New Zealand operations.

    Partnering closely with the Senior Software Engineer, Digital Technology, and cross-functional business teams, you'll take a hands-on approach to architecting, coding, and delivering seamless integrations that connect critical systems and support end-to-end business processes.

    In this role, you'll be responsible for designing scalable integration solutions, developing high-quality code, optimising system performance, and supporting the stability of our integration architecture.

    You'll also contribute to key initiatives including system modernisation, process optimisation, technology uplift, and the enhancement of data flow across the organisation.

    Success in this role requires a technically strong, solutions-focused engineer who can collaborate effectively with stakeholders, troubleshoot complex issues, and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced digital environment.

    This is a full-time permanent position based in our Sydney CBD Head Office.

    Reporting into the Senior Software Engineer, this role is responsible for, but not limited to :

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design scalable, efficient, and maintainable integration solutions.

    Architect integration solutions using industry best practices, applying strong knowledge of integration patterns, API design, and middleware technologies.

    Lead hands-on development and coding for integration projects using languages such as Object Pascal, Python, PHP, or others.

    Ensure all development adheres to code quality, security, and compliance standards.

    Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including design specifications, deployment guides, and operational support materials.

    Act as the subject matter expert in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving integration issues across systems.

    Provide technical guidance and support to Digital Technology and cross-functional teams.

    Organise and facilitate integration code deployments, ensuring smooth and timely releases.

    Conduct thorough integration reviews and implement corrective or improvement actions as required.

    Develop and execute test plans to validate performance, reliability, and compatibility across systems.

    Proactively identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency and optimise the integration development lifecycle.

    Support the development of team capability through mentoring, coaching, and contributing to individual learning plans.

    Conduct training sessions to uplift team knowledge and skills in integration technologies and best practice.

    Assist in task delegation and prioritisation to support workflow efficiency and project deliver.

    Contribute to regular and annual performance reviews by providing insights into technical performance and development progress.

    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in developer and / or software engineer roles.

    Previous experience working on international projects within fashion.

    Experience in Flow / Statelake integration is highly regarded, but not essential.

    Strong experience in SQL and proven ability to design and implement complex integration solutions.

    Experience in providing technical leadership, mentoring, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

    Experience with applications such as MSSQL, MySQL, MS Server, AWS, FLOW, Statelake, Mulesoft, Apigee.

    Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or similar.

    Ability to analyse complex integration requirements and design effective solutions.

    Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    Strong documentation skills to create comprehensive technical documentation for integration solutions.

    Effective time-management skills to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality solutions.

    Meticulous attention to detail to ensure code quality and accuracy in integration processes.

    Demonstrated self-motivation and a proactive sense of urgency in tackling tasks and responsibilities.
