Job description

The Junior Storage Engineer role is designed for individuals with a foundational knowledge in data storage technologies and a strong desire to specialise in the management and optimisation of storage solutions. This entry-level position involves assisting senior engineers in the design, implementation, and maintenance of storage systems that support the organization's data management needs. The candidate will be involved in tasks such as monitoring storage performance, rectifying faults, participating in the design / deployment of storage solutions, and contributing to disaster recovery operations. The role requires technical acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A proactive learning attitude and adaptability is crucial.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the design and deployment of storage solutions to meet our customer’s data requirements.
  • Support the maintenance of existing storage infrastructures, ensuring their reliability and performance.
  • Monitor storage systems, identifying and resolving issues related to capacity, performance, and availability.
  • Participate in the implementation of data backup and recovery solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure storage solutions align with overall IT infrastructure and business goals.
  • Contribute to the documentation of storage configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist in the evaluation of new storage technologies and products for potential adoption.
  • Support the enforcement of data storage policies, compliance, and security measures.
  • Engage in continuous learning to keep up-to-date with the latest storage technologies and practices.

Qualifications :

  • Basic understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS) and protocols (iSCSI, Fibre Channel).
  • Familiarity with data backup and recovery strategies and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with other IT professionals.
  • Eagerness to learn and stay current with industry trends and advancements in storage technology.
  • Prior experience in a storage or IT infrastructure role is a plus.
  • Certifications in IT or related fields (such as CompTIA A+ or vendor-specific certifications) are advantageous but not required.
  • Able and willing to gain Baseline clearance.
