    Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Registered Nursing applicants to join our Medical Oncology team as an on a Full-time or Part-Time basis. The Oncology Unit covers both an Inpatient setting as well as a day oncology area; providing our patients the best possible care during their treatment.

    Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital.We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.

    Newcastle Private Oncology Department provides specialty care for individuals and their families / carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care. The service has a 10 bed Inpatient Unit and a 9 chair Day Oncology Service.

    We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families / carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.

    As Registered Nurse your responsibilities will include :

    • Undertake acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
    • Deliver evidence based nursing care
    • Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
    • Ensure patient and staff safety
    • Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and (AINs) to deliver patient care
    • Proactively assess the perioperative nursing care provided to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for the individual / patient
    • Complete all required documentation in accordance with local and National Policies
    • Essential Criteria :

    • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
    • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant post registration qualifications
    • Demonstrated experience working within an acute medical or oncology setting
    • Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiative using research principles to support evidence-based practice, including development of policies and guidelines.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team.
    • Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient centred care;
    • Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
    • Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to learn new skills.
    • Flexibility to a seven-day roster including night duty
