Reporting into the Global Head of Funds Management, this role will support the deployment, management, and growth of New Forests’ international portfolio of agriculture, plantation forestry, timber processing, and carbon sequestration assets designed to deliver impactful outcomes and financial returns.
This position entails leading a 42-person global Asset Management team, with overall responsibility for managing the team culture and performance where you will leverage your knowledge and experience in natural capital asset management by providing strategic guidance and support across a wide range of financial and impact initiatives. The asset management team includes a group of fund managers, asset managers and fund analytics positions across agricultural, forestry, associated infrastructure and carbon investments.
The role will work across a matrix structure of four geographic regions and seven functional teams to ensure prioritisation and coordination of action. You will work externally by engaging with clients and key stakeholders to optimise fund performance and promote the activities of the team and New Forests generally.

In this role, you will be responsible for :
- Lead the global asset management team by fostering continuous support and cultivating a high-performance culture.
- Assume a leadership role to steer the asset management strategy and drive the achievement of asset management targets and goals.
- Demonstrate best practices in people management for the asset management staff, emphasizing learning and development, succession planning, performance enhancement, mentoring, skill development, and standardisation across teams to elevate organisational capability.
- Provide strategic advice on issues resolution and act as a subject matter expert in commercial and impact activities of the underlying investments managed by New Forests.
Cross Functional Leadership
Ensure alignment of activities across the matrix of functional and regional teams through active collaboration and engagement in internal forums (Governance Working Group and Funds Management Platform Committee).Originate, sponsor and manage platform wide improvement projects.Ensure fund management activities are focused on maximising financial and non-financial outcomes consistent with their respective mandates and New Forests internal policies.Ensure the review, standardisation, implementation, and ongoing improvement of operational processes and systems for funds and assets, including : strategic planning, budgeting, financial modelling, reporting (both financial and non-financial), knowledge sharing, software / technology integration, asset environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs, timber and carbon sales and marketing, property management, services procurement, insurance (crop and general), research and development, valuation standards, asset communications, and industry / stakeholder engagement and advocacy.Support relationship management and material negotiations (or disputes) with external providers including asset property managers (both funds owned and third-party), including performance management and reporting.Maintain a network with critical external providers to the funds including : forestry, carbon and agriculture consultants and valuers, legal providers, insurance providers, auditors and tax advisors.Foster robust relationships with existing and prospective investors and collaborate with internal teams to ensure enhanced investor understanding and confidence in New Forests offeringsWork to anticipate investor concerns, gather feedback, and integrate insights into fund management practices, ultimately strengthening investor trust and supporting long-term partnership.Fund Product Development and Deployment
Support fund product creation, fund raising and deployment in collaboration with other internal teams.Assist in the acquisition and disposition of major fund assets.Establish best practice framework for the establishment and management of fund strategic planning and Board governance.Fulfill designated fund operating company Directorships in fund-owned assets and operating companies.Contribute to the consistent management of fund entity governance and reporting practices and resolution of issues.Stakeholders
Develop and maintain external relationships in industry, Government and the not-for-profit sector to support funds management activities.Act as a strong external advocate for New Forests investment activities and engage in external forum to promote the positive impact of the company’s activities.Support New Forests advocacy activities through regional and international memberships, bodies and forums.This role requires the following qualifications, experience, and strengths :
Experience leading a team in the institutional funds management sector with natural capital assets focus in forests, carbon and agriculture.Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.Knowledge of corporate governance and responsibilities of company directors.Experience in team leadership within a functional matrix structure.Understanding of, and experience in, agriculture, forestry, infrastructure and carbon project valuations.This role will need to display the Asset Management Team capabilities :
