We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Manager who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys managing a diverse client portfolio, with the opportunity to gain global exposure. The successful candidate will lead and develop team leads, while confidently managing client interactions, troubleshooting, and stakeholder relationships.
If you are a highly motivated Payroll Team Leader or Payroll Manager with at least 1yrs experience in an outsourced environment — someone who enjoys variety, delivers under pressure, and is ready for the next step — this role is for you.
You’ll own the operational leadership of the Payroll Services team and ensure exceptional service delivery across your client portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Day‑to‑day leadership, coaching and development of the Payroll Services Team.
- Reviewing and approving complex client payrolls.
- Managing multiple clients, accounts, and payroll cycles (mid‑month and month‑end).
- Building strong relationships with clients and guiding them through solutions.
- Supporting new client proposals and implementations.
- System setup and onboarding (HR3).
- Overseeing PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, workers comp, IAS and compliance.
- Ensuring accurate processing, sign‑offs, approvals and payment runs.
- Managing outsourcing partners / SSC resources.
- Championing process improvements, efficiency and service excellence.
- Monitoring budgets, billing, SLAs and reporting.
- 7–8 years’ payroll experience (minimum 1 year in outsourced / multi‑client / BPO payroll).
- Experience managing multiple client payrolls and complex accounts.
- Strong people leadership skills (could be a team leader that is ready to step up)
- Deep knowledge of ATO, Superannuation, State/Territory legislation, payroll tax and workers compensation.
- Experience processing payrolls for up to 500 employees.
- Strong communication and client‑facing skills.
- Ability to handle pressure, busy cycles and shifting client deadlines.
- Commercial mindset and ability to manage budgets, billing and SLAs.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a high‑accountability role.
