The Job
The Heavy-Duty Diesel Fitter is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy-duty vehicles, earthmoving equipment, and other machinery used in civil construction. This role ensures all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards. The position requires working both in the workshop and in the field across various sites. Role is based in our workshop in Cardup.
- Diagnose, repair, and service heavy-duty diesel engines and related mechanical systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Identify faults and implement appropriate solutions to minimise downtime.
- Conduct inspections and testing to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with operators and other team members to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Adhere to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards and company policies.
- Ensure tools and work areas are kept clean and in good working condition.
- Provide breakdown support in the field as required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will :
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.Experience in diagnosing and repairing heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, graders, and trucks.Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair procedures.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call support when needed.Always prioritises safety and follows best practices to prevent incidents.Responds quickly to changing circumstances and finds effective solutions.Demonstrates honesty, fairness, and accountability in all actions.Takes initiative to identify and resolve issues efficiently.Works collaboratively, supporting team members to achieve common goals.Stays focused and motivated in challenging situations.Treats colleagues, clients, and stakeholders with genuine care and respect.Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent qualification).Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) or Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s license (preferred).Construction White Card.High Risk Work License (preferred but not essential).Air Conditioning Handling License (desirable).How to apply
