As Electrical Engineering Cost Controller you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient management and control of project costs, guidance, and oversight for specific business projects. Collaborating closely with all project functions, maintaining robust Cost Control Procedures and assisting the implementation of a comprehensive Control System. The role includes a focus on generating, updating, and maintaining project reports. Your primary focus will be on ensuring compliance with contractual and governance requirements and facilitating accurate reporting and enabling timely decision-making on the Project.

Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, and construction of this major pumped-hydro project is well underway. Once complete, the Scheme will provide 0 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately , megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market. Voith is the awarded Subcontractor. The above role is in connection to this project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plans, designs, and manages the implementation and maintenance of electrical systems, with accountability for controlling costs and tracking project financial performance
• Oversee the planning and design of power generation infrastructure, ensuring projects are designed within approved budgets and financial constraints
• Responsible for specifying and arranging electrical systems, including circuits, transformers, and switchgear, while monitoring costs and ensuring cost-effective design solutions.
• Responsible for organising and controlling resources for electrical equipment supply, tracking procurement costs, and ensuring financial efficiency
• Interpreting specifications, drawings, standards and regulations relating to electric power equipment and use and assessing the financial implications of compliance or design changes.
• Establishing delivery and installation schedules for machines, switchgear, cables and fittings, integrating scheduling with cost forecasts and expenditure tracking.
• Responsible for analysing project cost and schedules performance against the control plan and communicates reasons for variance and plans to mitigate to management.
• Participate in monthly cost and budget review meetings and present the results and impact in coordination with the Controlling department in Australia/Germany.
• Assist in the preparation of progress claims and cost reporting for work completed, monitor receipt of payment and escalate issues and disputes to the Controlling Manager for decision.
• Work with Project Control function Onshore and Offshore to measure progress, performance and collation of data for analysis, reporting and progress claims.
• Develop a strong understanding of the subcontract and head contract to enable proper management of the financial interests of the project.

• Work with the Planners/Schedulers, assist to establish and report cost against weekly work plans/schedules and packages, progress curves, histograms.
• Actively participates to support Snowy project audits including Offshore and Onshore.

Your Profile:

• At least 5 years of experience working in a Projects environment.
• Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Commercial acumen.
• Understanding of customer/client needs.
• Proven leadership, negotiating and lateral thinking skills.
