About Us

At the Heart Foundation, we believe everyone deserves a healthy heart. Heart disease is still the nation’s number one cause of death, and since 1959 we’ve led the fight through research, support, and prevention. Be part of our vision to make heart health achievable by everyone in Australia by 2050.

How You Can Make a Difference

Want to help strengthen Queensland’s cardiovascular research community? The Heart Foundation is looking for a connector, organiser, and all‑round people‑person to support the Queensland Cardiovascular Research Network (QCVRN).

You’ll bring researchers, clinicians, and partners together to build collaborations, support emerging leaders, and deliver events that make a real impact. One day you might be coordinating a research showcase or professional development webinar; the next, you’re supporting grants administration, wrangling committees, or connecting with stakeholders.

This position is being offered on a permanent part‑time (0.8) basis. You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and our Brisbane (Creek St) office.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Queensland Cardiovascular Research Network (QCVRN), ensuring smooth delivery of all programs and activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with researchers, institutions, funding bodies, and government partners to strengthen collaboration across Queensland’s cardiovascular research community.
  • Coordinate and deliver high‑quality events, including research showcases, symposiums, webinars, and networking opportunities, including the coordination of event working groups.
  • Administer Queensland‑specific research grants and prizes, ensuring transparent processes and effective communication with applicants and committees.
  • Provide secretariat and strategic support to the QCVRN Executive Steering Committee and Emerging Leaders Sub‑Committees, including meeting coordination, preparation, reporting, and follow‑up actions.
  • Promote QCVRN activities and achievements through digital channels and stakeholder engagement to raise the profile of cardiovascular research in Queensland.
  • Identify and drive new opportunities for collaboration, capacity building, and external engagement that advance the QCVRN’s strategic goals.
  • What You'll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications and / or experience in health, medical research, or a related field.
  • An understanding of the health and medical research landscape in Queensland and Australia.
  • Experience planning and delivering events, from concept to wrap‑up.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship skills — you’re confident connecting with researchers, funders, and government partners.
  • Great organisational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to tailor your message to a range of audiences.
  • A proactive, self‑directed approach — you take ownership, spot opportunities, and make things happen.
  • Why Join Us?

At our heart, we are driven by purpose. Every day, we make a meaningful impact through our work, and we are committed to supporting our employees in achieving a healthy work‑life balance.

We are dedicated to fostering a diverse, safe, and inclusive workplace. We actively seek to represent the communities we serve and recognise the invaluable skills, knowledge, and perspectives a diverse team brings. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and individuals from all backgrounds.

    What We Offer

  • Salary packaging to help you make the most of your earnings.
  • Flexible work‑from‑home options – up to 50% of your week.
  • A supportive and inclusive workplace culture where your contributions are valued.
  • Additional gifted leave during the Christmas shutdown period.
  • Wellbeing programmes and initiatives to support your personal and professional growth.
  • Ready to Apply?

Hi, I’m Steph from the Heart Foundation 👋 I know job applications can be stressful, so let’s keep it simple. You don’t need to answer selection criteria, and cover letters are totally optional (just keep it to one page if you include one).

There’s no strict closing date. We’ll start reviewing applications as they come in and close once we’ve found the right person, so don’t wait too long.

We’re an equal opportunity employer and welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences. If you need any adjustments during the process, just email me at careers@heartfoundation.org.au and I’ll make sure you’re supported.

Every application is read by a real person, not AI, and even if you don’t meet all the criteria, we still encourage you to apply.

All offers are subject to standard pre‑employment checks (like a National Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check where required).
