This position with the Penrith Mental Health Centre works within a multidisciplinary team and is responsible for the delivery of a range of services to children, families and primary schools involved with the Got It! (Getting on Track in Time) program. Got It! is a school based mental health early intervention service for children in Kindergarten to Year 2 who display disruptive behaviours and emerging conduct disorders. The service aims to increase the social and emotional skills of children, families and schools to prevent mental illness later in life, improve educational outcomes and enhance family cohesion. Services provided include the delivery of social and emotional learning groups for children and parenting programs for their parents/carers. The clinician will liaise and work closely with educational staff to provide practical support, education, and direction to classroom teachers. Got it! will provide opportunities for partnering with local services including multicultural services, Family and Community Services, Community Health agencies, Child and Youth Mental Health Services and family support services.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
Selection criteria to be addressed :
- Recognised tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social work, Occupational therapy, with current registration with AHPRA (psychology/occupational therapy) or eligibility for membership of AASW.
- Experience providing assessment and intervention to children and their families presenting with mental health needs using evidence based approaches.
- Experience and skill in developing, implementing, and evaluating group programs.
- High level of interpersonal skills and commitment to working closely with other members of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to and skill in working collaboratively and systemically with a range of key stakeholders.
- Out of hours availability to run groups during school term weekdays is required.
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
