Power Systems Engineer - All levels
Overview
We are currently partnering with a leading TNSP who are looking for a motivated and skilled Power Systems Engineer - Network Connections to join their dynamic team! If you are passionate about solving complex problems in power systems and have expertise in tools like PSSE, PSCAD, or PowerFactory this role is perfect for you.
Responsibilities
Perform power system modeling, simulation, and analysis using tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, and PowerFactory.
Evaluate prospective power network connection projects and assess their impacts on the grid.
Develop and maintain power system models, including testing and commissioning.
Carry out system capability and system security analysis, including network transfer capability analysis.
Ensure connection compliance and performance.
Support and conduct studies on power flow, fault levels, transient stability, and harmonics to ensure compliance with grid codes and policies.
Assist in integrating renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and battery storage into the power network while considering sustainability goals.
Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and documentation for grid connection and planning studies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network operators, stakeholders, and customers, to ensure optimal solutions and alignment in project execution.
Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory frameworks, and emerging technologies in power systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
Demonstrable competency in using industry-standard tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, and PowerFactory.
Solid understanding of power system analysis, grid connection processes, and network operations.
Knowledge of transmission system reliability and performance.
Knowledge of substation and transmission system components' performance and operation.
Programming experience using Python or similar.
Knowledge of legislated industry requirements (National Electricity Rules, ESCOSA, OTR, AEMO Guidelines).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
