Exciting Opportunity: Rugby League Coach

Westfields Sports High School

Are you a passionate and experienced Rugby League coach seeking your next challenge in a high-performance environment? Westfields Sports High School is inviting applications for the position of Rugby League Coach.

As a key member of our coaching team, you will play an integral role in developing our student‑athletes and fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and sportsmanship. If you have the qualifications and experience to contribute to both the boys’ and girls’ Rugby League programs, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with coaching staff to align with program philosophy, systems, and technical frameworks.
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for both the boys’ and girls’ Rugby League programs.
  • Help build a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement that supports student‑athlete development at school and within the broader rugby league community.
  • Attend and contribute to matches, training sessions, team meetings, and staff meetings.
  • Lead and assist in training sessions, including working with positional groups and skill‑specific drills.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting sportsmanship and professionalism.
  • Assist with video analysis, team reviews, and individual performance statistics.
  • Ensure all players uphold the behavioural expectations and standards of the school.

Essential Requirements

  • Senior Club / Youth Development Course (Level 2) or High Performance (Level 3) Rugby League Coaching Accreditation.
  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Desirable Criteria

  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Provide/Perform CPR accreditation.
  • LR or MR Driver’s Licence.
  • Experience within elite development pathways, academies, or representative programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of rugby league, including positional attributes and core skill development, with the ability to effectively transfer knowledge to players.
  • Strong understanding of elite sport principles, including applied physiology, nutrition, and strength and conditioning.
  • Experience using computer‑based video analysis systems to review and edit match footage.
  • Teaching qualifications (desirable but not essential).

Required Availability

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 8:00am – 3:10pm
  • Tuesdays: 8:00am – 12:00pm
  • Fridays: 8:00am – 1:30pm

Availability for game days, parent–teacher evenings, and school events is desirable.
