  • What does a Water Operator do?

Picture a plumber fixing a burst pipe in your house. Now think about a leaking pipe in the street. Same problem. The only difference is you're keeping your community's water supply running.

As a Water Operator, you're regularly outdoors. You're digging trenches, inspecting pipelines and collecting water samples. You're learning a collection of skills that can set you on your way to a technical, management or leadership role.

We have positions available north and south of the river in Perth based out of our depots in Balcatta and Canning Vale.

Your main concern is keeping the water supply network running. That's finding and fixing faults on pipes and joints. It's upgrading the water supply network. It's understanding the end-to-end water cycle and how water networks help your local community.

Mix in the supportive, family-friendly culture, the opportunity to add a nationally-recognised qualification to your CV and a collection of fantastic perks / benefits (including 9-day fortnights) - and you've discovered a career with the Water Corporation.

    • Participate in safe job planning, team meetings and workplace inspections.
    • Demonstrate leadership by ensuring that all work is undertaken with safety as the first priority in the provision of a work environment where no injury is considered acceptable, and all activities are undertaken without compromising health and safety.
    • Operate, maintain, monitors and repair water and wastewater assets, operational sites and public facilities as required.
    • Participating in standby, overtime and call out availability rosters as required.
    • Key skills and experience
    • Willingness to complete Certificate III National Water Package
    • Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence, with a truck licence being beneficial
    • Previous customer service experience
    • Experience in water supply and wastewater systems
    • Ability to work afterhours and participate on a standby roster
    • Apply
    • If you are interested in the above opportunity please submit a covering letter and resume that best demonstrates your ability to meet the requirements of the role.
    • Our commitment to an inclusive workplace
    • Through our Equity and Diversity Management Plan and People Strategy, Water Corporation is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace of the future.
