What You’ll be Doing

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) provides high quality patient care by efficiently utilising resources to manage the clinical operation of the Department / Unit on a shift by shift basis. This includes patient flow, staffing management and co-ordinating and directing clinical care to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The NUM, under the direction of the Line Manager is to :

• Ensure the provision of an appropriate and safe standard of clinical care.
• Assume responsibility for providing leadership, direction and co-ordination of patient care.
• Ensure the effective functioning of the nursing team in the co-ordination of each team member providing care.
• Ensure all nursing staff in the ward practice safely, are competent and work within their scope of practice.
• Assist the Nurse Manager to ensure that the ward is managed effectively and within budget allocation.
