Employment Type : Full-time, Permanent

Pay : $41.47 - $63.86 p / h + Superannuation + Benefits

As the Assistant Director at Goodstart Nelson Bay you'll leverage your expertise and leadership to inspire and motivate your centre team, driving continuous improvement across all areas of centre operations. Collaborate with our dedicated leadership team, forge respectful and reciprocal relationships with families, and actively engage with the local community networks.

In this role, you will :

  • Support the Centre Director in the leadership of the team to provide high-quality early learning and care
  • Mentor and build capabilities within the centre team
  • Be responsible for the overall management of the centre in the Centre Director’s absence
  • Use and implement the Goodstart Practice Guide

    We are on a look out for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Director to join our vibrant 59-place centre in beautiful Nelson Bay. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in dynamic environment close to the beach, town and surrounded by nature.

  • Float between rooms , supporting educators and assist where needed.
  • Assist with planning and documentation – 2 hours weekly dedicated to paperwork (with potential for more).
  • Rotating shift  to support and guide the team in providing quality services to children and families.
  • Collaborate with the Centre Director to drive the centre’s vision and initiatives.
  • Supervise staff, offering guidance and promoting strong team dynamic. Maintaining a positive, supportive work culture.
  • Foster a safe and respectful environment for children and staff.
  • Engage with the local community through events and programs.
  • This floating role primarily supports educators in various rooms, helping to identify needs, providing supervision, and working alongside the team to build a cohesive and strong staff culture. The position requires flexibility and a commitment to improving educational outcomes and the wellbeing of both children and staff.

    You’ll need :

  • A Bachelor or Diploma in Early Childhood (or ACECQA approved equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Those who hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood (or ACECQA approved equivalent) - must hold active accreditation with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
