This role is critical in supporting underground mining operations through the maintenance and repair of heavy diesel equipment and machinery.

We are seeking experienced Underground Heavy Diesel Mechanics to join their dynamic team. This role is critical in supporting underground mining operations through the maintenance and repair of heavy diesel equipment and machinery. You will play a key part in ensuring reliability, efficiency, and safety across a wide range of OEM machinery used in underground environments.

Responsibilities :

  • Conduct scheduled maintenance, fault diagnostics, and repairs on underground heavy diesel equipment (e.g., loaders, trucks, drills, and utility vehicles)
  • Perform breakdown repairs with minimal supervision in a fast-paced underground environment
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and overhaul engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Maintain accurate service records and ensure all work is compliant with site safety standards and procedures
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and other trades to minimize equipment downtime
  • Adhere strictly to KFI's safety and quality assurance protocols at all times

Key Requirements :

  • Trade Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Australian Recognised)
  • Any prior experience working on underground mining equipment
  • Strong understanding of major OEMs such as CAT, Sandvik, Epiroc, and Atlas Copco
  • Sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Current Driver’s License (HR preferred)
  • High-risk work licenses (desirable)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug / alcohol testing
