Responsibilities

Interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine materials, measurements, and installation procedures.

Prepare work areas by sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials and applying mortar layers using trowels.

Lay bricks, blocks, and stones in rows and patterns, ensuring accuracy, alignment, and consistency.

Erect and dismantle restricted-height scaffolding in compliance with safety regulations.

Spread mortar between joints and embed blocks securely, removing excess mortar for a clean finish.

Cut, shape, and polish stones or bricks using hand tools and machinery to fit irregular spaces.

Construct and repair walls, partitions, arches, and other structures using a variety of masonry materials.

Maintain and restore brick, stone, and cement block structures as required.

Design and cut decorative or monumental masonry, including lettering where applicable.

Qualifications

Certificate III in Bricklaying / Blocklaying or relevant trade qualification.

Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in bricklaying or masonry construction.

Sound understanding of construction drawings, building codes, and safety practices.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
