Management Accountant – CBCity

Role Overview
This position is a permanent full‑time Management Accountant within the Financial Planning team. The role supports Council business needs through timely delivery of financial management services, budgeting, statutory reporting and grant accounting.
Responsibilities
- Communicate the Council’s financial objectives to all business units.
- Assist in formulating long‑term financial planning and budget development strategies and policies.
- Develop and prepare the Council’s budget.
- Provide commercial analysis and performance solutions to key stakeholders.
- Assess budget performance and financial management across units.
- Engage with government bodies and industry peers on financial obligations, taxation, grants and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and lodge statutory returns, reports and reconciliations accurately and on time.
- Maintain accuracy, reliability and integrity of Council financial ledgers.
- Manage relevant integrated information systems to ensure data integrity and internal controls.
- Stay up‑to‑date with Australian accounting standards, legislation, and Council policies.
Qualifications & Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Business or Finance.Demonstrated experience in management accounting, budgeting and financial planning.High computer literacy and proficiency with an accounting enterprise system.Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.Strong interpersonal, analytical and prioritisation skills.Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels.ACA, CPA, ACMA membership, Local Government accounting experience, or SAP knowledge is an advantage.Remuneration
$104,465 (Grade H, Step 1) + 12% super. Salary negotiable based on experience and skills.
