About the Role

BMD is in a significant growth phase with a strong pipeline of projects in hand and as a result, we are looking for a Community & Stakeholder Engagement Advisor to form an integral part of the Tonkin Extension Alliance team.

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Senior Community & Stakeholder Engagement Advisor and the project team to deliver coordinated and effective communications and engagement activities to minimise the community impacts and complaints during the construction of civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities :

Relationship Building

  • Support project team members to ensure stakeholders’ needs are considered throughout all stages of the project.
  • Assist in meetings with key stakeholders to confirm their operational needs and preferred communication or engagement channels.
  • Maintain positive relationships with community members and stakeholders, acting as a key contact for general enquiries and concerns.

Communication and Engagement Activities

  • Promote a culture of proactive community relations within the project team.
  • Support induction and awareness sessions on managing community relations risks.
  • Assist in coordinating communication and engagement activities such as community notifications, door-knocks, information sessions, and briefings.
  • Prepare communication materials including works notifications, project updates, newsletters, and general correspondence.
  • Liaise with the project team to ensure construction activities align with stakeholder expectations and commitments.
  • Issues Management and Reporting

  • Monitor and record stakeholder feedback to identify emerging community issues or risks.
  • Maintain accurate reporting on engagement activities, stakeholder feedback, and upcoming community events.
  • Escalate potential or significant stakeholder issues to the CSE Manager or Project Manager as required.
  • Ensure all engagement and reporting activities comply with client (e.g. RMS / Transport) requirements and standards.
  • Complaints and Enquiries Management

  • Act as a first point of contact for community members and stakeholders regarding enquiries and complaints.
  • Record and manage all complaints and enquiries in the CRM system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate responses to enquiries and complaints in accordance with project and client standards.
  • Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Public Relations, Media Relations Communications or Business, or related discipline
  • Extensive prior experience in communications and stakeholder management on major infrastructure projects
  • Experience working within a team and leading team members.
