We have an amazing opportunity for a Project Engineer to join Otraco’s dedicated in-house engineering team. This role will provide technical, engineering and analytical support to site operations, liaising effectively with senior personnel across the business.

The Role

The Project Engineer role will be Mon-Fri, full-time based in Otraco’s Head Office in Kewdale (Perth), with travel to our site operations as required. The role is varied, hands-on, and will support an extremely talented in-house team.

  • Provide technical and engineering support across the business and sites.
  • Comply with Otraco and Client policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Ensure that Otraco standards are maintained in the analysis of tyre performance, and that site is maintaining Otraco’s standards of tyre servicing, accuracy of tyre records and workshop performance.
  • Liaise with Operations to stay informed with developments on site.
  • Promote continuous improvement in technical development across the sites.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to maintain a high level of performance.
  • Liaise on a regular basis with Client company personnel responsible for tyres and Otraco’s operation.
  • Prepare the statistical and written sections of monthly reports to the client based on data input by site personnel.
  • Make recommendations to the client on any factor affecting tyre performance and costs, or which would enhance the overall performance of the operations, usually via the General Monthly Report (GMR).
  • Identify technical / engineering / mechanical discrepancies across sites and implement solutions through problem solving.
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and implement solutions to create efficiency gains for our Clients and to minimise their tyre related costs.
  • Perform EM tyre batch and other analysis on a regular and appropriate basis.
  • Conduct TKPH, V-Box, tyre heat monitoring and other site studies as necessary.
  • Conduct scrap tyre and rim inspections when on site.
  • Ensure that the relevant contracted “Scope of Work” is performed to a high quality of service for each site, and that the Site Contract Specification Plan is regularly reviewed and complied with.
  • Perform ad hoc tooling, operational and technical studies as required.
  • Conduct consulting audits and prepare / deliver technical papers and presentations as required.
  • Perform quality audits to ensure that sites are complying with Otraco policies and procedures.
  • Give presentations on site to operators, supervisors and management, including site review presentations as required.
  • Promote continuous improvement and schedule visits as required.
  • Participate in toolbox and safety meetings, including any follow up issues raised relating to Otraco operations to site.

About You

To be successful you will ideally have a Tertiary Qualification in Engineering and be able to demonstrate the following :

  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Degree qualified in Engineering.
  • Experience in data analytics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • High level understanding of the mining and tyre industry (preferable).
  • Experience in engineering design, certification, and fabrication (preferable).
  • Strengths in data analysis including Power BI and reliability engineering experience (an advantage).
