Reporting to the General Manager - Operations, the National Distribution Centre Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities related to the effective, efficient and accurate operation of Makita’s warehouse facilities. The National DC Manager will strive to achieve industry best practice standards with a focus on process improvement and efficiency as well as ensuring the smooth operations of the various functions of Makita’s warehouses and its products.

Primary responsibilities :

  • Manage and ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the various functions of the Makita Warehouse and its products.
  • Drive process improvement and efficient customer service.
  • Allow for efficient and accurate customer service, through effective staff and resource planning.
  • Lead initiatives for the enhancement of safety and security processes of all Warehouse functions to minimise the risk of theft or damage.
  • Oversee all freight contracts and arrangements with intention to maximise customer satisfaction and minimise cost.
  • Ensure all documentation is correctly filed and archived in line with company guidelines.
  • Lead initiatives for the enhancement of warehousing systems and processes with a strong focus on efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage and ensure the timely and accurate carry-out of stock take cycles and any prior preparation required.
  • Implement and report daily, weekly and monthly on warehouse key performance indicators.
  • Provide high level analysis and reporting to Senior Leadership.

What we need from you :

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • 10+ Years experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams, managing large-scale projects, and driving change in complex environments.
  • Proven experience in managing large distribution centres nationally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear manner.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities with a hands-on approach.
