Wesley Mission Queensland (WMQ) has been helping people across Queensland build stronger and more inclusive communities for over a century, offering community support, hardship and emergency relief, mental health services, aged, disability and palliative care and retirement living across Queensland. As an Institution of the Uniting Church, they work collaboratively with other Uniting Church congregations, community organisation and government bodies to provide accessible and flexible services to older people, those living with a disability or mental illness, and vulnerable children and families. Board Renewal Opportunity
As one of the State’s most beloved not-for-profit community service providers with a long and proud history you will contribute to the impact delivered by this wonderful organisation of more than 2700 employees and 2400 volunteers working across approximately 90 services to make a difference in people’s lives by building relationships, showing respect and demonstrating compassion.
Board renewal has led to an opportunity for new board members to join the board for an initial term of three years. These are remunerated board positions and to complement the existing board members, we are seeking specific skills and experience in :
Importantly, you will be an experienced non‑executive director with an alignment with the Uniting Church mission and ethos and the values of WMQ : integrity, respect, empowerment, hope, justice, compassion and innovation. Professional qualifications relevant to corporate governance responsibilities and practices (GAICD or equivalent), in the context of the design and delivery of community services are essential. With a clear understanding of the strategic and functional role of the board, it is envisaged you will bring a contemporary approach to leadership and governance and have demonstrated knowledge of the applicable legal, ethical and fiduciary responsibilities required.

The board recognises the considerable value that diverse insight, perspective, and experience contribute to its decision‑making.
