APS Level 6 - Talent and Employee Experience Supervisor

The APS6 Talent and Employee Experience Supervisor is a skilled and proactive HR professional with demonstrated experience leading recruitment, onboarding and employee experience functions within a complex, policy-driven environment.

This role manages a small team and partners across the Museum to deliver timely, compliant and fit-for-purpose workforce solutions. The position plays a key role in improving recruitment systems and practices, supporting employee mobility and onboarding, and contributing to strategic people initiatives, including employee experience, capability development and inclusion.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role combines strong policy knowledge with practical delivery to drive innovation and ensure a high-quality candidate and employee experience aligned to APS frameworks and the Museum’s priorities.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead and manage a small team to deliver end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, mobility and staff separation processes, ensuring compliance with APS frameworks and the Museum’s workforce priorities.
  • Provide expert advice on classification, merit-based selection and organisational design to support equitable and strategic hiring decisions.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies, sourcing approaches and assessment methods tailored to evolving business needs.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand workforce requirements and deliver timely, fit-for-purpose and policy-compliant solutions.
  • Drive process improvements, including automation and system enhancements, to improve the candidate, onboarding and separation experience.
  • Contribute to employee experience, engagement and inclusion initiatives, including participation in internal committees and workforce development projects.
  • Prepare recruitment reports and workforce insights to inform planning and support broader HR functions and priorities as needed.

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, induction and mobility processes, with a strong understanding of APS employment frameworks, merit principles and legislative requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage a staff member and coordinate workflows to deliver high-quality, timely and compliant HR outcomes.
  • Experience providing expert advice on classification, selection methodologies and equitable organisational design aligned to APS and agency-specific policies.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence decision-makers and partner with business areas to meet workforce needs.
  • Demonstrated capability in improving HR systems, automating recruitment or onboarding processes, and contributing to workforce reporting and analytics.
  • Sound judgment, initiative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address emerging workforce challenges and implement practical, business-aligned solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare policy-aligned documentation and communicate confidently across all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience supporting employee experience, engagement, or capability development initiatives in the public sector.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Aurion Recruitment and Onboarding, applicant tracking systems, and digital tools used to support recruitment and onboarding processes.
