Sample Management Officer
Full‑time permanent (37.5 hours per week) – Monday to Friday. The role is based in Girraween, NSW. Entry‑level with great opportunity for career advancement.
The Sample Management Officer is responsible for the receipt and registration of customer samples, liaising with customers and laboratory staff, and ensuring all customer, operational and quality requirements are met.
Responsibilities
- Receiving deliveries and checking that samples and products meet customer and testing requirements.
- Logging samples in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and recording accurately any information, storage and analytical requirements supplied by the customer.
- Completing all quality control and sample retention/quarantine records in accordance with quality requirements and work instructions related to sample receipt.
- Collecting samples from client sites when required for urgent and routine collection.
- Sorting, packing, labelling and distributing samples and other items as required, internally and externally; ensuring samples are delivered to the respective laboratory areas in a timely manner to meet holding times and support improved customer turnaround times.
- Liaising with external clients regarding sample submissions and related queries, including supplies, and supporting the Analytical Service Managers.
- Liaising with laboratory personnel regarding sample submissions, customer requirements and inquiries.
- Organising courier pick‑ups for samples or containers sent externally and following up on courier delivery.
- Performing general housekeeping duties, ensuring a safe and hazard‑free work environment.
Qualifications
- Tertiary/TAFE qualification in Food Microbiology or Science is advantageous but not essential.
- Previous experience in administration highly regarded.
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office suite.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- High level attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
On‑the‑job training will be provided, along with the use of our systems and programs.
Previous exposure to a laboratory environment would be beneficial, but a can‑do attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves are essential.
