Provide outreach case management support to women and women with children experiencing family violence who reside in the Bayside Peninsula area.

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children's and parenting services, counselling, support, men's programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

Southern Family Violence Programs and Services works with service users from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of women and children. Family Violence Services staff are required to work within a trauma informed practice environment, all staff are expected to work creatively towards ensuring that the safety and support needs of all women and children accessing the services are the first priority.

About the role

As the Specialist Family Violence Practitioner - Case Management Team you will provide outreach case management support to women and women with children experiencing family violence who reside in the Bayside Peninsula area

You will successfully

  • Carry a caseload of up to 13 cases
  • Support women and children referred via Risk Assessment and Management Panels (RAMP)
  • Manage intake and assessment in accordance with a team roster
  • Respond to women and children presenting in crisis
  • Work collaboratively with Victoria Police and other community organisations and stakeholders
  • Facilitate therapeutic support groups as required
  • Attend relevant network meetings
  • We have several full time fixed term positions (12 months) with possibility of extension dependent. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social worker, SACS VIC Lvl 5 - Social Wkr CII award.

    You will have

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work / Social Sciences or related fields is essential
  • Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable
  • Knowledge of the physical, emotional, psychological and behavioural impact of trauma and abuse
  • Understands and applies FDV models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
  • Demonstrates knowledge of FDV including context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations and legislation
  • A current and valid VIC Driver's Licence
  • Current and Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
