About the program :

AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.

Your responsibilities will include :

Working on the AIR6500 program, the Systems Engineering Lead will be responsible for :

  • Resolving System and sub-system level requirements through decomposition and design, representing these in the Model Based Engineering (MBE) environment
  • Developing key interface definitions, representing these in the MBE Environment
  • Resolving design and solution Trade-Offs against System Requirements
  • Developing key AIR 6500 technical documents and artefacts such as solution descriptions, trade studies and definition of requirements
  • Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), within LM and our partnering organisations to support project activities and reviews

About you :

To be successful in this role, you will have :

  • Degree qualifications in a relevant Engineering Discipline or relevant industry experience.
  • Significant knowledge in one or more of the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (C4ISREW) domains
  • Excellent understanding of Model Based Systems Development (MBSD) and Model Based Engineering (MBE) principles (DoDAF or SysML experience is a plus) deploying updates to within the modelling environment (MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or other)
  • Extensive experience with development of systems design for large complex systems
  • Advanced experience trading off designs and solutions with an understanding of the potential component level, subsystem level, and system level impacts
  • Significant knowledge and experience undertaking Agile development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and collaborate across teams
  • An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access / handle Export Controlled technology, data and information
  • Special Requirements :

    Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
