The opportunity

We have an opportunity for an Enterprise Risk Advisor to join CSIRO’s newly formed Integrity Unit. As the Enterprise Risk Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting CSIRO’s enterprise risk management capability. You will provide expert advice and services across the organisation, helping to identify, assess, and manage strategic, operational, and emerging risks that may impact CSIRO’s objectives and reputation. Working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels, you will promote a proactive risk culture, facilitate risk workshops, and enhance the organisation’s risk management framework.

Your high‑level duties will include

  • Providing expert advice and support to CSIRO units on the identification, assessment, and management of strategic, operational, and emerging risks.
  • Contributing to the development and review of risk assessment processes, controls, and documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Preparing and delivering risk reports, insights, and recommendations to senior management to inform decision‑making and enhance organisational resilience.
  • Leading configuration, enhancement, and user training for the GRC platform to meet evolving organisational needs.
  • Monitoring and analysing risk data trends, providing actionable insights to stakeholders and supporting continuous improvement of risk processes.

  • Location : Any AUS CSIRO site considered
  • Salary : AU$118k– AU$127k per annum (pro rata for part‑time), plus 15.4% superannuation
  • Tenure : Indefinite, Full‑time

  • As the successful candidate, you will bring

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in risk management or related field e.g. business, governance, compliance, or a similar discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise risk management, including the ability to identify, assess, and manage strategic, operational, and emerging risks in a complex organisation, and the ability to translate complex risk information into practical advice and solutions.
  • Strong understanding of GRC systems and processes, with experience in system administration, configuration, and user support / training.
  • Excellent verbal communication and written skills, including for a range of stakeholders and for Executive forums.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to meet deadlines and collaboratively within teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

    Eligibility

    Applications for this position are open to Australian Citizens only . Appointment to this role is subject to provision of a national police check and may be subject to other security / medical / character requirements. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Level Security clearance.
