Job description

Join Nyrstar as a Graduate Metallurgist in Port Pirie, gaining hands‑on experience in metallurgical processes within a global multi‑metals company.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include :

  • Exposure to all aspects of the business and plant operations including Finance, Safety and Environment
  • Involvement in Metallurgical Planning and Technical Projects
  • Rotations through pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes such as Top Submerged Lance (TSL) Furnace, Blast Furnace, Refinery, Zinc Slag Fuming and Copper Plants
  • Working with mentoring from Senior Plant Metallurgists and support from engineers and operators
  • Opportunity to develop leadership skills and participate in ongoing technical professional education

About You

The company is looking for :

  • Completion of a Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy degree or graduation within the past two years for immediate start
  • Demonstrated experience in vacation work or post‑degree on‑the‑job experience is highly advantageous
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities is highly advantageous
