Job description

We are seeking a proactive journalist to join The Senior's editorial team, producing general news and lifestyle stories suited to mature Australians, as well as content for themed advertising features. The successful applicant will gather, write and self-edit news stories and features for publication for online and in print for a national / state-based audience.

What you'll be doing :

  • Work closely with the editor to produce informative, interesting and engaging content for print and online;
  • Maintain editorial integrity and independence while meeting customer expectations for high quality, relevant and engaging content;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to accuracy and be able to work to strict deadlines;
  • Take a creative, audience-first approach to your work, while utilising digital story-telling tools to enhance online content.

The Senior has been a trusted free source of information for people aged 55+ since 1978, and published online and in print across NSW / ACT, VIC, QLD, SA, WA and TAS. We are part of ACM (Australian Community Media), Australia's largest independent media organisation with a network of 140 newspapers and websites.     • Skills and experience :

  • Recent experience in digital journalism with strong news-gathering and writing / reporting skills (within the last 5 years)
  • A high attention to detail, organised and self-motivated
  • The ability to work as part of a team, and autonomously, in a remote working environment
  • You don't need to be anywhere near 60, but you do need an understanding of major issues affecting mature Australians
