About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and hardworking Parks Operator to join our team at Singleton Council. In this role you will make a real impact on the everyday lives of people within our community by achieving important outcomes for Singleton.
In your role you will contribute to important community outcomes. The work is varied and will involve maintenance, construction, and cleaning of public land.
Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, minor construction and cleaning of parks, sports fields, reserves, garden beds and public land (e.g., grass cutting, edging, manual excavation, and construction works) to schedules and as directed, in an effective and efficient manner and to adopted Council standards of quality.
- Operate a variety of plant and equipment for the maintenance of open space areas including push mowers, whippers, snippers, lawn edgers, ride‑on lawn mowers and out‑front mowers.
- Ensure all plant, including small plant, and equipment is operated safely, effectively, efficiently and within manufacturer's guidelines, Council policies, practices and work instructions.
- Provide quality customer service to internal staff and other stakeholders to ensure customer needs are met in a timely manner.
- Complete and provide accurate documentation and reporting forms including timesheets, hazard report forms, WHS documentation and forms.
Qualifications & Experience
Certificate II in Horticulture or related field with industry experience, or extensive experience in parks maintenance, general horticultural practices, construction and landscaping techniques.Demonstrated ability to work in small teams to ensure duties are performed to set standards and within established timeframes.Demonstrated experience operating parks maintenance related small plant and equipment.Basic computer skills with the ability to maintain accurate written and computerised records, undertake calculations and complete forms.A commitment to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers of Council.Employment Conditions
Permanent, full‑time basis working 76 hours per fortnight on a 9‑day fortnight.
Salary : Grade 5 of Council's Salary System Protocol equating to a base salary of $61,808 – $69,526 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
