This position, reporting to Nicole, is responsible for clients' bookkeeping as delegated by the director to ensure accuracy and completeness of work with a high level of attention to detail, while maintaining productivity standards.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct data entry of bank accounts, invoices / receipts, and bills / payments
  • Process payroll requirements
  • Reconcile all bank, credit card, and loan accounts
  • Reconcile key general ledger accounts
  • Report unusual or inconsistent movements to the manager or client
  • Consult with clients regarding queries
  • Check draft accounts once processed and verify balance sheet items
  • Check profit and loss items and analyze ledger accounts
  • Prepare reconciliations of GST and payroll accounts from the general ledger
  • Research GST and compliance issues
  • Prepare financial reports and working papers
  • Prepare business activity statements (if requested)
  • Liaise with ATO and other statutory bodies as required
  • Interpret cash flow if required
  • Attend and participate in client meetings
  • Maintain & update client manual, checklists, and process documents
  • Update own timesheets and other admin requirements as directed
  • Ensure client accounts are kept up to date and orderly based on client expectations
  • Perform other activities as required

Core Experience

  • Ideally at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role with Certification IV in Bookkeeping
  • Sound bookkeeping skills and understanding of accounting theory
  • Proficient computer literacy, including navigating around a computer and accessing email, internet programs
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload
  • High attention to detail
  • Willingness to comply with all policies and procedures of the company
  • Business-like personal presentation
  • Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or MYOB
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
