  • About Us

Waverley is a diverse and innovative Council located in the heart of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. With a broad range of services, programs and initiatives, Waverley is one of the leading local government areas in NSW. Taking in some of Sydney's most beautiful beaches including the world famous Bondi Beach and encompassing part of Sydney's global economic corridor at Bondi Junction, Waverley Council is an amazing place to broaden your career.

Are you interested in starting a career in Early Education and Care and enjoy all the benefits of working for local government? Here at Waverley Council, we operate four Early Education Centres and a Family Day Care service. We value our team and provide an enriching career path from Trainee to Early Childhood Educator, Teacher, Director and beyond. We have an established traineeship program and currently have an opportunity for four new trainees to join one of our Early Education Centres in the heart of Bondi Junction or Bronte in Sydney’s East.

In this role you will learn best practice from our qualified early education professionals and gain hands on experience as you work towards your Certificate III qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care. You don’t need any experience, just a genuine love and interest in the early childhood education profession, be self-motivated, team focused and possess the ability to positively communicate with children and their families.

As a trainee, you’ll be given dedicated study time each week and support and guidance with your TAFE studies, which are fully subsidised. As a Waverley Council employee, you’ll be given extra entitlements, which includes generous leave conditions, gym membership discounts and access to Council’s health and wellbeing programs.

    Child Safe Policy

We fully support the aims and objectives of the NSW Office of Children’s Guardian and Child Protection legislation. We will implement necessary practices to ensure a safe and supported Council environment for children and young people. All staff, volunteers and contractor’s welcome child safe and child friendly practices.

Please refer to the position description for detailed information on the position, required skills and experience. For more information contact Michelle Carrick on 02 9083 8621.

Waverley Council is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all candidates.
